Graveside service for Roger Dale Stone, 69, will be 1 p.m. today, April 8, 2016 at Maple Grove with Pastor Thomas Smith officiating. Mr. Stone went home to be with his Heavenly Father on Tuesday at RMC.
Survivors include his wife, Louise Higginbotham Stone; children, Rodney Stone (Cheryl), Marie Tominich (Ron) and Mike Vanwanderham; step-children, Annette Ellis (Willie), Shelia Griffin (Patrick), James Thompson (Buffy) and Frances Hill (Curtis); grandchildren, Dana Snider (Mike), Randy King, Kimberly King, Tylor Stone, Austin Stone, Dylan Stone, McKenzie Stone, Jesse Thompson (Rachel), Austin Belcher, Malachi Smaltz and Matthew Smaltz, Maleia Smaltz, Brittany Vanwanderham, Megan Vanwanderham, Emily Fleming and Tyler Fleming; great-grandchildren, Michael Snider, Haley Snider, Chris Bean, Nathan Somers and Kayleigh Somers; brothers, Donald Stone and Eddie Stone; sister, Dianne Hughes; he is also survived by his extended family that loved him and will miss him so dearly.
Mr. Stone is preceded in death by his mother, Mary Ruth Stone Martin; father, Phillip Stone; step-father, Robert Martin; sisters, Shirley Stone and Sandra Taylor; brothers, Leon Stone, Winston Stone and Ronald Stone.
Pallbearers will be Jesse Thompson, Michael Snider, Tylor Stone, Joe Emery, Gene Belcher, Malachi Smaltz, Wayne Taylor and Lonnie Canada. Grandpa was discharged from the Army. He served his country during the Vietnam War.
He was a roofer, huge fisherman and loved the casinos. He was always lending helping hand to family and friends and he never met a stranger.
