

A celebration of life for Mr. Herbert Ronald Barker, 82, of Anniston, will be Saturday, November 25th, 2023, 11:00 a.m., in the chapel of Anniston First United Methodist Church with Rev. Tammy H. Jackson officiating. The family would like to welcome friends one hour prior to service time. Mr. Barker passed away on November 21st, 2023.
He is survived by his wife, Allyson Grant Barker; his children, Herbert Ronald Barker Jr. “Scooter” and his wife Krista, Anna Barker Forshage and her husband Blaine; step-daughter, Carmen Beam Newsom and her husband Reaves; siblings, Barbara Barker Varnum, William Harold Barker, Rodney Gray Barker and his wife Linda; grandsons, Dylan Gray Barker, Jenson Zachary Barker, Justin Luke Johnson, Jackson Barker Johnson, Grant Reaves Newsom, William Beam Newsom, Russell Parrish Newsom, Rowland Mackenzie Coyle, Merrill Thomas Voytko, and a host of nieces and nephews.
Mr. Barker is preceded in death by his parents, William Herbert and Fannie Kate Barker; step-daughter, Emily Brooke Beam.
Ronald was known for his love of training and showing his labrador retrievers in HRC hunt tests. He also was an outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, and anything pertaining to the great outdoors. He taught his children and grandsons and many of their friends to ski, hunt, fish, and taught some of them how to read blue prints and build houses. Ronald was so proud of the 9 grandsons whom he adored with all his heart. He is loved dearly and will be missed by all those who knew him.
