Carr, 68, will be Saturday,
July 12, 2014, at 2
p.m. at Hillcrest Baptist
Church in Saks with the
Reverend Alan Murphy
and the Reverend Roland
Brown officiating.
A private burial will follow.
The family will receive
friends from 10
a.m. until 2 p.m. at the
church.
Mr. Carr was the
owner of Valley Machine
Company, a member of
Mamre Baptist Church, a
longtime Board member
of Compass Bank and a
Board member of the
Gadsden State Technical
School.
Mr. Carr touched
many lives throughout
his lifetime in the local
community and beyond.
He selflessly gave of his
time, talents and his possessions
helping others
on countless occasions;
particularly in the aftermath
of local tornadoes,
helping to rebuild
homes, lives and businesses.
He was active
and vital contributor to
the local Relay for Life
Foundation, the Anniston
Soup Bowl and the
local Salvation Army. He
was a longtime contributor
and supporter of St.
Jude’s Hospital for Children.
His tireless efforts
and support of our community
will be remembered
by many.
His is survived by
two sons, Brad Carr (Lara)
and Lance Carr;
grandson, Ben Carr; sister,
Vivia Tomlin; brother,
Michael Carr and
mother of his children,
Charlotte Carr.
Mr. Carr was preceded
in death by his parents,
Hubert and Edith
Carr.
Pallbearers will be Michael
Askew, Michael
Burford, Charlie Duke,
Jimmy Logan, Jimmy
Phillips, Bob Shallow,
Pat Waugh and Maurice
Wildman.
