Roy Harold Owens

Memorial services for Roy Harold Owens, 79 of Alexandria will be Wednesday at 3:00 P.M. at Chapel Hill Funeral Home. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 1:00 P.M. until service. Mr. Owens passed away Sunday at Col. Robert L. Howard State Veterans Home in Pell City. Mr. Owens is survived by his wife Dale Owens of Alexandria, a son Dwayne Owens, a step-son Johnny Buse and a step-daughter Cher Buse Dulaney, a sister Melba Cate, several grandchildren and great grandchildren and nieces and nephews. Mr. Owens is preceded in death by his parents Eli and Alma Owens, a daughter Cindy Street and four sisters. Mr. Owens was a native of Alexandria. He served in the US Navy during the Korean War, retired from Naval Reserve and Goodyear Tire and Rubber and a lifetime member of VFW Post 924 and past Commander of Post 924.

Big O was my buddy. Enjoyed playing shuffleboard with him for many years at the VFW, Post 924. He was quite a character and we had some "spirited" discussions over the year. Sorry I was not able to visit him in Pell City (my loss) My sincere sympathy to his family......................Kay Cassell

My thoughts and prayers go out to the family. I am sorry for your loss! As a volunteer at the VA Home, I enjoyed his presence at many of the activities, especially the church services. He will be missed.
