

JACKSONVILLE: A memorial service for Roy Gene Pelfrey, 43, will be held Friday, January 16, 2015 at 1 p.m. at Chapel Hill Funeral Home with Rev. Terry Graves and Phillip Hopkins officiating. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home for one hour prior to the service.
He is survived by a son, Dalton Pelfrey of Saks; a daughter, Kayla Merrill Snelling and her husband Ray of Saks; his mother, Dorothy Hinds Kemp and her husband Junior of Heflin; two sisters, Judy Campbell and her husband Ray of Saks and Deborah Faulkner-Hymon and her husband Bruce of Dayton, OH; four brothers, John Patrick “Pat” Pelfrey and his wife Lula of Wellborn; Billy Pelfrey and his companion Gloria of Oxford; Robert Pelfrey of Birmingham, and Samuel “Sammy” Pelfrey of TX; several nieces and nephews; and his companion, Tammy Merrill of Talladega. Honorary pallbearers will be Joey Findly, Curtis Smith, Chuck Hanson, Buck Hanson, Shane Hanson and Phillip Hopkins.
Mr. Pelfrey was preceded in death by his father, Elmer Pelfrey and his grandparents, aunts and uncles.
A special thanks to Chapel Hill Funeral Home for their services to the Pelfrey family and “Our God sent angels”, Phillip and Jennifer Brown Kreh for their help during this time of need.
In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for donations to be made to the Regions Bank, c/o Phillip Hopkins for the Roy Pelfrey Fund which will cover his sons education expenses.
