Visitation for Mrs. Ruby Jewell Lance, 88 of Anniston will be held Saturday, May 2, 2020, 1 p.m. until 2:30 p.m. at Chapel Hill Funeral Home. Celebration of life, graveside services will follow at Ohatchee First Baptist Cemetery, 3:00 p.m. Mrs. Lance passed away on Tuesday, April 28, 2020 at Stringfellow Memorial Hospital, Anniston.
Chapel Hill Funeral Home will assist family at the service and graveside to meet the 10 in-person gathering order. Family and friends can attend visitation 10 at a time and as others file out more can come into viewing room.
Mrs. Lance is survived by her daughters, Charlotte Hanson (Lewis) and Beverly Brunner; son, Joseph Schaeffer; and stepson, Douglas Lance (Brenda); grandchildren, Tobi Guess, Brian Wilson, Jessica Hanson, Nicholas and Corey Lance and Zoe Conner; great grandchildren, Zachary Guess (Caitlin), Chase Guess, Justin Wilson, and Cheyenne Cochran; great-grandchildren, Aiden and Addilyn Lance and Axel Guess; and several nieces and nephews; and of course, her furry feline friend, Sylvester.
Mrs. Lance is preceded in death by her husband, Walter Lance and sister, Louise Poe. Mrs. Lance was a native of Calhoun County, where she worked dutifully her entire life in support of her family.
She was an avid gardener, impeccable cook of Southern delicacies-all her family enjoyed and still attempt to mimic, and enjoyed watching hummingbirds and squirrels from her front porch swing.
