Graveside service for Sidney Joe Bright, 88, of Anniston, will be held at 1pm on Saturday, August 18, 2018 at Anniston Memorial Gardens with Bro. Bryan Williams officiating. The family will receive friends from 5-7pm on Friday night at Gray Brown-Service Mortuary and from 11:30am until 12:30pm on Saturday at the funeral home. Mr. Bright passed away at his home in Anniston on Monday, August 6, 2018.
Survivors include his daughter, Dana Bright Hoeflein (Joseph); sons Anthony “Tony” J. Bright and Eric J. Bright (Karen); grandchildren Karina Hoeflein, Destini Bright-Brown (Sean), Austin Bright, Justice Bright, and Allora Bright; great-grandchildren Mackenzie Brown and Brooklynn Brown; brother Paul E. Bright (Catherine); and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mr. Bright is preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Bobbye Ann Lowrey Bright; son Charles “Chuck” Bright; parents Ralph Morgan Bright and Maude Day Bright; brothers Hubert (Butch) M. Bright and Richmond Nollie Bright; and sisters Juanita R. Bright and Mary Lois Witte.
Pallbearers will be family and friends.
Mr. Bright was a graduate of Oxford High School and a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He was a member of the Ft. McClellan and Cane Creek golf courses for many years. He was also a past president of the local BASS Masters. He was a member of New Haven Baptist Church and was retired from Anniston Army Depot.
Mr. Bright was a vibrant, active man with many interests. A lifelong hunter and fisherman, he was also a skilled golfer and enjoyed spending time with friends, laughing and sharing stories. Known for his candor and directness, Mr. Bright was also generous and compassionate. He is greatly missed.
Flowers will be welcomed or donations may be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
