Theresa had a servant’s heart. Even at a young age, she helped to care for others. After graduating high school, she moved to Birmingham AL and obtained her Registered Nurse degree from St. Vincents Nursing School. After nursing school, she returned home to Anniston and began her nursing career at RMC spanning over the course of 25 years. She spent 19 of those years in Labor & Delivery, serving a portion of that time as Head Nurse. She spent her remaining years in surgery and Pre-Admission testing before retiring. Her caring and nurturing for others was evident throughout her life. When her mother suffered an aneurysm, Theresa and her family moved next door to her parents to help oversee her mother’s care. That nurturing spirit would be extended to her mother-in-law and her father when their health began to decline also. God knew His plan for Theresa when her family moved next door to her parents. In addition to helping her parents, she was also able to be there for her son Raytons childhood best friend and next door neighbor Colman when he was diagnosed with cancer at the age of 17. From being instrumental in the early delivery of her granddaughter Brianna and the many complications her mother Lori endured during her pregnancy, she was able to provide life saving CPR to her nephew Dustin.
God knew years ago the tasks He would have for Theresa to fulfill and she has completed those. She will be remembered for the love and care she extended to those around her.
In addition to helping provide care to her family, another great joy she had was her family. From her husband Donald to her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was especially excited for the upcoming arrival of twin great-granddaughters in December.
She was a member of the Genesis class at Hill Crest Baptist Church and enjoyed attending until her health no longer allowed her to be there in person.
Her family would like to extend their thanks to Enhabit Hospice of Anniston for the love and care they provided to her and her husband over the last 18 months. A special thanks to Barry Wilks, LyTonya Conley, Jennifer Salster, Brittany Crowe, Brandy Burks and Dale Hollingsworth. Your kindness and care shown to our family will not be forgotten.
