Thomas Henry Hollingsworth
September 30, 1936 – August 30, 2020
Thomas Henry (Tom) Hollingsworth, 83, passed away August 30, 2020 in Birmingham, Alabama after a lengthy illness. He is survived by his sister, Patricia Ann Farrar, sister-in-law June Hollingsworth, nieces, Amy Minor and Deana (Wayne) Jackson, two nephews, Todd (Leslie) Hollingsworth and Brent (Robin) Hollingsworth. He was single but he had many nieces and nephews that he enjoyed teaching to ski, sail, and ride the waves on the Pontoon boat at his lake home on the Tennessee river, learning to play pool, and especially learning to make a favorite of his: homemade ice cream machine!
He grew up in Bynum, Alabama and graduated from Oxford High School and Auburn University where his career journey spanned Aeronautical Engineering and the Space Age with NASA in Huntsville, Alabama. He served his country during the Korean War era as a Second Lt. in the United States Army.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Ruth (Wynn) Hollingsworth, brother, Bob Hollingsworth, and many special aunts, uncles and cousins.
The family would like to express their appreciation to the caring professionals at Huntsville Hospital, Aspire Rehab Facility, the Clare Bridge Community at Brookdale, and Fresenius Dialysis Center, who lovingly cared for him during his illness.
