She was born October 7, 1937, in Oxford, Alabama to the late Mr. and Mrs. Weldon (Pearly Mae Taliaferro) Hicks. She was a 1956 graduate of Oxford High School.
She was a long-time member of Saks Baptist Church attending for more than 46 years. She held the Sunday School secretary position for 17 years, with which she took great pride and served with her whole heart.
She was formerly employed at the GE Plant and then Indian Head Yarn and Thread, later renamed Blue Mountain Industries from which she retired in 1989 to begin keeping her grandchildren.
She could always be found telling others about the joys of her life, her husband, her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She never failed to let others know the love that she carried in her heart for her family. She was a strong woman of faith and wanted others to know her Heavenly Father as well.
She was preceded in death by her precious daughter Regina Greenwood, brothers, Thermon (Ruby) Hicks and Lathaniel Hicks; sister, Mona Sue (Bobby) Miller; and nephews; Keith Miller and Danny Hicks.
Survivors include her loving husband of 67 years, Jerry, sons Rodney Greenwood of Saks. AL and Ryan Greenwood (Suzanne Cates) of Louisville, KY, former daughter-in-law Amy Greenwood of Birmingham, AL; sister-in-law Beverly Hicks of Southside, Al; grandchildren Chase (Summer) Greenwood, Cameron (Reagan) Greenwood, Caylor (Jon) Sheppard, Carmyn Greenwood, and Cassady Greenwood; great-grandchildren Grayson, Addison Kate, Jim, Pruitt, Jack, and Paxton; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Saturday, March 30, 2024, from 11am to 2pm at Saks Baptist Church. Funeral service will begin at 2pm with Rev. Daniel Harper officiating. Interment will follow at Anniston Memorial Gardens with Chase Greenwood, Cameron Greenwood, Jon Sheppard, Eddie Greenwood, Jimmy Greenwood, Grant Nichols, Brent Bennett and Robert Smith serving as pallbearers.
