

Ohatchee – Funeral services for Mrs. Imogene Griffin, 84, of Ohatchee will be Thursday, July 30, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Wellington 1st Baptist Church with Bro. Tommy Miller, Bro. Larry Bollinger, Bro. Tommy Hays, Bro. Van Lockridge, and Bro Allen Murphy officiating with burial to follow at Anniston Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Wednesday night from 6-8 p.m. at Chapel Hill Funeral Home.
Imogene went to her heavenly home on July 27, 2015.
Mrs. Griffin is survived by her husband Starlin “Shorty” Griffin; children, Jerria (Steve) Carter, Phyllis (Jack) Heathcock, Robert (Jeran) Griffin, Paul (Anna) Griffin, Bet (Rodney) Gallahar; sisters, Elizabeth (Errol) Hays, Joyce (Raymond) Fleming, Doris (Lin) Bridges; grandchildren, Jason (Stephanie) Heathcock, Eric (Monica) Carter, Wendy (Jerry) Latham, Jeremy (Carmen) Tiller, Nic (Jennifer) Carter, Andrea (Brett) Alward, Josh (Helen) Carter, Emily Hill, Alex Gallahar, Ryan (Jessica) Foster, Kayla Jennings, Winston (Amy) Harris, Monica (Joel) Henderson, Morgan (Brandon) Ganey, Cameron (Dawn) Joiner, and Mason (Lori) Griffin; thirty-three great-grandchildren; three very special caregivers, Lilla Smith, Pam Leach, and Icyee Gladden.
Mrs. Griffin was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Dimple Jones; special uncle, Johnny Jones; grandson, Heath Jennings; granddaughter, Kristina Dowdy; and great-grandson, Brandon Alward.
Pallbearers will be grandsons. Honorary pallbearers will be the Freddie Lee, J.C. Putman, and Bobby Nabors, Deacons of Wellington 1st Baptist Church, nephews.
Imogene was born and raised in Ohatchee and graduated from Ohatchee High School in 1949. Shorty and Jean were married for 64 years. Imogene was a member of Wellington 1st Baptist Church, where she loved all her church family. She was a wonderful Christian mother, grandmother, and great grandmother and a special aunt to many nieces and nephews. Imogene was a loyal Auburn and Jeff Gordon Fan.
Flowers will be accepted or donations to Camp Seale Harris at 500 Chase Park South Ste. 104 Hoover, Al 35244, a camp for educating young diabetics life skills and better management of their diabetes
