Funeral services for Wendell “Wimp” Estes, 70, of Anniston, will be 1 pm Monday, May 7, 2012 at Gray Brown-Service Chapel with Rev. Bill Snow officiating. Burial will follow at Anniston Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 – 8 pm at the funeral home.. Mr. Estes died Friday at his residence surrounded by his family and loved ones.
Survivors include his wife, Juanita Estes of Anniston, one daughter, Wynette Rogers (Joe) of Wellington, one son Tony Estes (Pam) of Eastaboga, three grandchildren, Ryan Rogers, Kristen Estes and Michael Estes, one sister, Charlotte Shears of Anniston, several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Estes is preceded in death by his parents W.C. and Versie Estes.
Pallbearers will be Jackie Lee, Ryan Rogers, Barry Shears, Keith Shears, Roger Bryant and Brandon Bryant. Honorary Pallbearer will be Michael Estes.
Mr. Estes was a native and lifelong resident of Calhoun County. He was a member of United Freewill Baptist Church, Masonic Lodge Hatwell 101 in Oxford and the Order of the Eastern Star.
