

Wilda Myrtle Bergdoll Loftin (Billie) went to be with the Lord in Heaven on November 21, 2021. Mrs. Loftin was born on October 30, 1914 living over 107 years of a joyous life. She outlived all of her 4 siblings and their spouses and all of her late husband (Charles Columbus Loftin)'s 11 siblings and their spouses. She is survived by four sons and their spouses Richard and Teena Loftin from Nantucket, MA; Steve and Diane Loftin from Pelham, AL; Tom and Cheryl Loftin from Cypress, Tx; and Jim and Gwen Loftin from Piedmont, Al. She is also survived by 4 grandchildren, Shanie (Jeff) Lacoke of Cypress, TX, Susan (Chris) Chappell of Overland Park, KS, Angela (Gregg) Rundle of Cypress, TX and Christopher (Emkay) Loftin of Mtn Brook, AL and 8 great grandchildren.
She grew up in Petersburg, WV attending North Mill Creek Baptist Church, which was founded by her grandfather (Acheim Scott Bergdoll) and where her father (James Edward Bergdoll) was Superintendent of Sunday School for 35 years.. She was baptized as a believer in her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ in the waters of Grant County, WV during her youth. She was active in the Spice of Life club at the First United Methodist Church in Piedmont, AL, where she was the oldest member of the church.
She attended Yokum Grade School and St Johns Academy in Petersburg, WV and later Attended St Johns College. She then earned her Nursing diploma from Christ Hospital Cincinnati OH. She worked as a Registered Nurse at Piedmont Hospital for many years followed by becoming the Director of Nursing at the Piedmont Nursing Home. Overall her nursing career spanned more than 50 years. Throughout her career, her kindness and gentleness were felt by hundreds if not thousands of patients.
She not only had a heart of gold, but she had hobbies and talents she enjoyed during her spare time. She especially enjoyed growing flowers and roses, making dolls for her grandchildren and others, painting portraits and landscaping scenery, embroidery, quilting, seamstress, and finally playing the piano.
Such a sweet lady will surely be missed by many.
Services will be conducted as follows on November 28, 2021: Visitation 1:00 PM at First United Methodist Church, Piedmont, AL, Celebration of Life: 2:00 PM First United Methodist Church with Dr. Kevin Payne officiating. Burial Service: Piedmont Memory Gardens.
In leu of flowers memorials can be made to First United Methodist Church of Piedmont.
