Brad was born on April 2, 1956 in Minneapolis, MN, to Marvin and Lois Benson. He graduated from Coon Rapids High School class of 1975. Brad worked various jobs throughout the years before retiring 5 years ago after 20 years as a mail handler with the Minneapolis branch of the United States Postal Service.
Brad shared over 27 years with his beloved wife Cindy, whom he affectionately called "his Lady" because she called him her "Knight".
Together they built a life filled with love and laughter. Brad and Cindy cherished time spent at sporting events proudly cheering their favorite Minnesota sports teams of the Twins, Vikings, Wild and Timberwolves. Whether from the stands or watching from home, those moments brought great joy but also some frustration during the "rebuilding years."
They also shared a love for the arts, often attending theater performances and music concerts, always enjoying those experiences side by side. Brad had a love for the outdoors and adventures. He found freedom on his motorcycle and peace on the water in his boat. He spent many happy days living life to the fullest.
Brad loved being a grandpa. Whether taking the grandkids to games, teaching them archery, or pedal biking on the local trails.
Brad tried many hobbies these past few years such as painting, stained glass making, and playing the guitar. But Brad’s true passion was photography. He could spend hours behind his camera lenses searching for the perfect shot, always experimenting with and creating something new through his unique perspective and artistic eye.
Brad was preceded in death by his parents, Lois and Marvin Benson, and his brother Doug.
Brad survives by his loving wife of 25 years Cindy (nee Haaf); his children, Christina, Julie, Jacob and Jesse Benson. Stepchildren Laura (Brandon) Duerr and Jon (Kayla) Durst; grandchildren Mikey, Danny, Alex, Torrey, and Helaina; his brother Greg and sister LaVonne (John) Klucking; mother-in-law Lyn Haaf; along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and many dear friends.
Brad was an organ donor, and through that final gift, his legacy of generosity and compassion will continue to live on in the lives of others. Brad will be lovingly remembered as a man who lived fully and loved deeply. He will be deeply missed by all who know him.
