

Carroll was born in Fresno, CA, and was a graduate of Tomah High School in Tomah, WI.
Preceded in death by his beloved wife, Susie; parents, Frank and Mae Abbott; brothers, James and Larry (Dell) Abbott.
Carroll is survived by his son, Michael (Jamie) Abbott of Andover, MN; daughters, Cathy (Paul) Beiter of Rochester NY, Patty (Bob) Drake of Parrish, FL, and Peggy Abbott of Pensacola, FL; grandchildren, Caryn, Eric, Megan, Michael, Christina (USAF), Jeremy, Andrew, and Thomas; great-grandchildren, Annabelle, Ben, Claire, Declan, Kaden and Kallen; brother, Tom; many other relatives and friends.
Carroll served in the US Navy for 32 years as a Chief Petty Officer (YN), and Guam Military Government Deputy, WWII (Pacific and Atlantic) Korea, Vietnam.
Carroll graduated from Juneau County Teachers College, in New Lisbon, WI (1955). He was an elementary school teacher in Warrens, WI (1955-58) and Necedah, WI (1958-59), and also at Blaine Senior High School, Blaine, MN (NJROTC) 1975-81. Carroll was a regular Red Cross blood donor and fundraiser, a Boy Scout Master in Blackfoot, ID, and a proud member of the Knights of Columbus (PGK), 4th Degree K of C, American Legion, DAV, and VFW.
Join us to celebrate Carroll's life on Wednesday, January 14, 2026, at St. Stephen's Catholic Church, 525 Jackson St, Anoka, MN. Rosary by the Knights of Columbus will take place at 9:45 am, Visitation at 10:00 am, Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am, and luncheon to follow.
For those who would like to join us for Carroll's Interment on Thursday, January 15, please meet at 10:45 am at Gearhart Funeral Home, 552 East River Rd, Anoka, and we will drive in procession to the cemetery.
Interment with Military Honors will be held on Thursday, January 15, 2026, at 12:30 pm at Fort Snelling National Cemetery, 7601 34th Ave S, Minneapolis, MN. If you are meeting us at the Cemetery, please arrive by 12:15 pm at Assembly Area #6.
