He is preceded in death by his parents, Engvald and Gladys Rud.
Cleo is survived by his loving wife of fifty-two years, Dixie; children, Ryan (Liz) Rud, Matt (Julie) Rud; grandchildren, Jake, Owen, Samuel, and Isaac; siblings, Ernie Rud and Shirley Everson; special friends, Darrell and Darlene "LaLa" Taie, Gerald and Renee Stanislawski; several cousins, nieces and nephews, and many, many friends.
Butch was a proud Navy Veteran and lifetime member of the VFW. He was blessed with a loving marriage to Dixie for fifty-two years. Together they raised two sons, their pride and joy, and became grandparents of four grandsons. You could find Butch on the side lines of his grandsons’ sporting events cheering them on. He truly enjoyed watching his family grow and grow up.
Butch loved spontaneous games of cribbage and poker, as well as visiting with family and friends. He enjoyed visiting Alaska and vacationing with family and friends around Minnesota, including the annual summer vacation to the lake with his family. This brings many memories of fishing, boat rides, and brandy sevens. Butch enjoyed spending time working with wood, creating cribbage boards, bean bag boards, and many furniture pieces for family and friends. He was always willing to give a helping hand and a hug. He enjoyed a good steak but Dixie’s chicken noodle soup most of all. He will be deeply missed.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Butch are preferred to the Disabled American Veteran's at http://secure.dav.org, or to an organization of your choice. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared below for the Rud family.
We ask family and friends to join us in a celebration of Butch's life on Saturday May 22nd from 1-5pm. A ceremony will be held at 2pm, followed by dinner, yard games and cards at the home of Ernie Rud, 3958 155th Ave NE, Ham Lake, MN 55304.
