Gary will be remembered as a loving husband, devoted father, and proud grandfather who found his greatest happiness in being with his family. In his earlier years, he enjoyed golfing and played in a work league. As his sons, David and Matthew, grew older, they later joined him on the golf course, sharing in his love of the game. During those same years, Gary chose to spend more of his time with his family, investing in the moments that mattered most.
Those years were filled with adventure and togetherness. The family began camping in a pop-up camper, spending weekends outdoors and making lasting memories. Gary’s love of fishing led him to buy a small green boat so he could teach his boys the same way his father had taught him. Over time, those simple outings grew into bigger adventures, with a larger boat and eventually a camper that carried the family across the country. They shared special trips to places like the Grand Canyon and explored historic sites, including Presidential Libraries.
When grandchildren came along, Gary’s joy only deepened. He and Deborah created a treasured tradition of “Grandparent Weekends,” spending one-on-one time with each grandchild. Beginning when Kyle was just three years old, these weekends became a special bond, filled with laughter, attention, and memories that will be carried forward for a lifetime. Each summer brought time set aside for every grandchild, something Gary truly looked forward to.
Gary and Deborah also enjoyed traveling together, especially visiting Civil War sites and spending time in Florida during the winter months.
He was preceded in death by his son, Robert Claude Redding; his parents, Claude and Bernice Redding; and his sister, Vicki Redding.
Gary is dearly missed by his wife of 54 years, Deborah Leah Redding; his sons, David (Cindy) Redding, and Matthew (Julia) Redding; his sister, Claudia Guenther; and his grandchildren, Kyle Koury, Gavin Redding, Anna Redding, Ashlynn Redding, Gabriel Redding, Logan Redding, and Theodore Redding. He will be remembered for his steady presence, his love for family, and the time and care he gave so generously to those closest to him.
