Gordon Lloyd Magee, age 75, of Andover, Minnesota, went home to be with the Lord October 17, 2026, after battling tooth and nail against Parkinson’s Disease. He was born on May 5, 1951, in Dunkerton, Iowa, to Lloyd and Marion “Snookie” (Slee) Magee. He was the middle child of five, growing up alongside his siblings Wayne (Nancy) Magee, Carol Levine, Laraine (Rick) Davis, and Barb Magee.
Gordon is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Denna (Tisue), and their daughters: Carey (Greg) Eigen, Courtney (Aaron) Jambura, and Cassie (Gerrit) Plantage. His proudest legacy in the faith he passed on to his family, including his seven beloved grandchildren: Aubrey (Cole), Sophie, Jozie, Owen, Adeline, Reyer, and Phoebe.
As a high school athlete, Gordon played basketball, football, and baseball. In later years, he took to golf and fishing. Even as Parkinson’s limited his physical abilities, he would stubbornly fight to hit a bucket of golf balls or cast a fishing line—much to Denna’s chagrin.
Gordon was the lead singer in a rock ‘n roll band and began his working life as an ironworker, balancing unharnessed on steel rails in the air. This demanded a combination of grit and fearlessness, traits that bolstered many future endeavors. When Gordon came to know the Lord as his Savior, he enrolled at Northwestern College to prepare for God’s call into ministry. There, he also used his spectacular singing voice playing Tevye in the grand-opening production of the Fiddler on the Roof. Gordon was a gifted preacher, pastoring for 20 years in Manitoba and British Columbia, Canada; and in Minocqua, Wisconsin.
Gordon transitioned from vocational ministry into the business world to become head of Internet Marketing for Drs. Foster & Smith, where he spoke at national conferences and hosted a company television show. He was a natural entrepreneur—always making new connections and imagining new possibilities. He was a published author, screenplay writer and songwriter. Randy Travis sang Gordon’s, “Unbelieveabull,” as the theme for Professional Bull Riding. Gordon proved that it is never too late to learn something new and that you can do anything you put your mind to.
Gordon lived a remarkable life, and the Lord used him to touch countless people. His story was one of courage, perseverance, and, above all, faith. We can only imagine how many of those whose lives he touched will one day greet him in heaven. Gordon’s course is finished, but the legacy of his faith, his love for his family, and his faithful witness to the grace of God will live on in all those he leaves behind.
A visitation and memorial service will take place on Saturday, October 24, 2026, in Nazareth Chapel at the University of Northwestern, St. Paul, MN, followed by a luncheon. Visitation begins at 9:30 am; memorial service at 11:00 am.
In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations to the student scholarship fund in his name at University of Northwestern.
