

Holly Meryl Halvorson, 78, of Circle Pines, MN passed away on June 21, 2025. She was born to Andrew and Gladyce Holum on August 3, 1946, in Fosston MN. Holly married Orlo Halvorson on September 23, 1962, and lived in the Fosston area until relocating to the Twin Cities in 1966.
Holly is survived by daughters Kelly (Phil) Chase and Karen (Jeff) Olson; grandchildren Jeffrey (Sondra) Chase, Steven Chase, Rebecca Olson; and great-grandchildren Lucas Olson and Elizabeth Chase. She is also survived by her sister Barb Lunkley; sisters and brothers-in-law Janice Stormo, Carol (Ordean) Sundrud, Leonard Ball, Mavis Halvorson, James (Sandra Branchaud) Halvorson, Donald (Kelly Klinkhammer) Halvorson, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
She is preceded in death by her husband Orlo of 58 years, her parents and parent-in-laws Otto and Alna Halvorson, Brother Robert Holum, Brother-in-laws Robert Lunkley, Richard Stormo, Jerry Halvorson, Kenneth Maruska; sister-in-laws Lois Ball, Linda Maruska, Eleanor Holum; nephews Marlon and Tom Holum.
Holly worked at Medtronic for most of her career. While raising her daughters she also volunteered at Unity Hospital and Como Zoo.
She enjoyed working in her flower beds and watching the birds and squirrels in her yard. Holly’s hobbies included her family and friends, playing cards, bingo, watching Hallmark movies, fishing, traveling around Minnesota and throughout the United States. She loved wildlife, especially giraffes. It is fitting that she passed on World Giraffe Day.
Her daughters cared for her the last year of her life. Holly was grateful for the medical care she received at Saint Therese at Oxbow Lake and Mercy Hospital.
A celebration of life will be held on Tuesday, July 29th from 11am-1:30pm at Mississippi Crossings Event Center, Champlin, MN 55316.
Memorials will be distributed between Como Zoo and Wildwoods wildlife rehabilitation organization.
