She was preceded in death by former husband, Cliff Jochim; second husband, Christ Evanov; and brothers, George and Danny Hoffman.
Joan will be deeply missed by her children, Kelley Osowski, Stacey (Perry) Kadrmas, Steve (Lucia) Jochim, Scott (Tracy) Jochim, and Mike Jochim; sister, Jeanette; brothers, Dave and Dale; 11 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and an extended circle of loving family and friends. Joan was an amazing mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend to many. She was a strong, independent woman who believed that love was truly the reason for living, and she spread love wherever she went. Her example showed her family how to stand up for their beliefs while also being kind and generous. Her gifts were her ability to create peace and beauty in her surroundings; to not fear the storms, but rather to watch in awe and then dance in the rain.
Joan inspired many people with her wisdom and compassion combined with hard work and sacrifice. As her children were growing and leaving for college and careers, she went back to college and earned several degrees and professional licenses. In 1986 and 1990 Joan earned her Bachelors and then her Master’s Degrees from St. Cloud State University. In addition, she earned licenses as an Alcohol and Drug Counselor and Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker by the State of Minnesota. During that same time, she also spent a year in Sweden working as a Chemical Dependency Counselor. Upon her return to The U.S. and until her retirement from the Fairview Hospitals Counseling Center, Joan was a tireless advocate and counselor for many people in the St. Cloud and Milaca area.
