Kenneth "Kenn" Nelson
February 24, 1951 – March 3, 2020
Kenneth “Kenn” Nelson Age 69, of St. Paul Passed away unexpectedly following ongoing health issues on March 3, 2020.
Kenn was born to Harold and Phyllis Nelson on February 24, 1951 in Van Nuys, California. He has a sister, Sue and brother-in-law, Perry; two nephews, Peter, married to Jen with great-nephew Alex, and Roddy. Roddy currently lives in Hawaii.
He is preceded in death by his grandparents, aunts and uncles, cousins, and many dear friends. Kenn lived in many different cities. He moved with his family to Deer River, MN and Finland, MN. He also lived in Duluth, MN since he was seven years old, where he found friends in the neighborhood to hang with. He attended Duluth Central but then moved to Fargo to graduate from Fargo North High School. He then moved to Moorhead and graduated from Moorhead State College. He lived and worked in Iowa City, then Quad Cities.
He worked in many jobs: golf caddy, Sears clerk, advertising at a radio station, with an advertising agency, and he had his own advertising agency. He then moved into computer analysis and I.T. for UNISYS, Wells Fargo, General Mills, and Xcel Energy.
Kenn liked golf, bowling, traveling, and when he was younger snow skiing. Kenn was an active SAL member of the Roseville American Legion, where he would spend his free time.
Kenn had emergency surgery for an internal abscess on his spine at the first of the year. He was hospitalized for a month before spending another month in rehab to regain his mobility. We all felt that was all behind him, however, he had ongoing heart disease and ultimately passed away from heart failure.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at later date.
