Mary Ellen Lunde

Mary Ellen Lunde age 95 passed away peacefully on September 12, 2023 at the Homestead of Anoka in Hospice care. Mary Ellen was a lifelong member of Faith Lutheran Church in Coon Rapids and chose to have her mortal remains interred at the Epiphany Cemetery across the street and alongside her husband. Her spirit; however, will live within all of us who loved her.

Mary Ellen Lunde was born on New Years Eve in 1927, a fact she was very proud of. Her parents were Nora (Lyle) Chapin and Leslie Chapin of Kidder, South Dakota. Nora, her mother, was a substitute teacher and from age 12 on Mary Ellen lived and went to school in various South Dakota communities; eventually ending up in Vienna, South Dakota where she met Earl Lunde her future husband. They were married in March of 1949 and had two children, Colin and David. In 1950, Mary and Earl moved to the Twin Cities of Minnesota where she remained until her death.

Mary Ellen is preceded in death by her husband Earl; brother Tom and his wife Janet; and sister Jean and her husband Milo Porter. Also, by brother and sister-in-laws: Galvin and Marcita Lunde; Quentin and Delores Lunde; Carol and Edward Nord; and Laverne Lunde.

Mary Ellen is survived by her two sons: Colin Lunde of Sioux Falls, SD and David and daughter-in-law Rochelle Lunde of Coon Rapids, MN. By three grandchildren, six great grandchildren, her brother Roger & Jeanette Chapin and many nephews and nieces.
