Richard John Hopkins Sr.
September 18, 1945 – May 5, 2022

Richard John Hopkins Sr. (Hoppy), age 76, of Anoka, MN, passed away on May 5, 2022 at his home.
Hoppy was born September 18, 1945 in Milbank, SD to Dale and Lauraine (VanHout) Hopkins. He passed away peacefully after a short and courageous battle with cancer.
Preceded in death by his grandparents, John and Sylvia Hopkins, and Richard and Laura VanHout; parents, Dale and Lauraine (VanHout) Hopkins; sisters, Mary (Hopkins) Giese and Gail (Hopkins) Garing-Shuman; step-daughter, Rosita Patterson (Kinney); many aunts, uncles, and two brother in laws.
Survived by his loving wife Aurora Beaudreau; children, Richard Hopkins Jr., Christina Hunziker, Cody Hopkins, and Kealani Hopkins; step-children, Georgia Kinney, Richard Kinney, and Anthony Kinney; grandchildren, Kennedy, Carter, Casey, Corissa, Calley, Dylan, Cora, Parker, Cade; and great grandchildren, Isabella, Dexter, Phoenix and Lyam.
Also survived by siblings, Margaret Goetsch, Bev (Doug) Knutson, Sandy (Jeff) Simon, John (Sheryl) Hopkins, William Hopkins, Robert (Brenda) Hopkins, and Becky Steeves; as well as many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
Hoppy will be fondly remembered by his love for his family, his fun personality, his wild antics, and his passion for camping, the black hills, and traveling. Hoppy was an avid Corvette enthusiast and founder of the North Country Corvette Club. Hoppy will be missed dearly by all of those who knew him.
A service celebrating his life will be held on: June 25th from 12 noon to 3:00 PM at the American Legion, 400 West Main Street, Anoka, MN. The celebration of life will be open house style, with a 20-minute prayer service from noon to 12:20 PM. We hope you'll join us as we celebrate Hoppy’s life with a light meal, stories, and fellowship.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial to Aurora Beaudreau to help with expenses. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared below for the Hopkins family.
