Terry D. Peck

Terry D. Peck (1948-2026) died after a battle with cancer. Preceded in death by two loving and caring people; brother, Roger L. Peck and daughter, Nicole R. Peck. He is survived by his loving family; his wife, Mary Jo; daughter, Kelly; son, Tanner; and the Peck, Lanners and Kastner families.

Terry enjoyed playing all sports and brought that joy to all who played with him. He learned and developed many of his tennis and teaching skills at Washburn High School, U of M, University of St. Thomas (UST), and was a professional ranking member of the Professional Tennis Registry (PTR). 

Terry's tennis coaching career began at St. Louis Park High School. It continued at UST where he was the assistant coach for six years, and head coach for twenty-six years (1993-2019 summer). After that he was Coach Emeritus at UST for several years. 

After serving as UST Assistant Coach (1986-1991) and as Wayzata High School Coach, in his Head Coach role, Terry became one of the coaches with the most wins in the history of the University of St. Thomas (715-257). Students always came first. He also served at UST as an Adjunct Professor for portions of 3 decades. 

Terry also worked as the UST Tennis Club Director donating one-week clinics each summer to St. Paul children. He caught tennis balls in a net racket, served from a pole with the tennis ball hanging from a string, served the ball while sitting and conducted many drills.

His book, "Drill Formula" professed Practice + Effort + Confidence + Knowledge = Improvement and Fun. Through the Professional Tennis Registery and the NCAA, Terry was able to participate in some big time tennis clinics with many Hall of Fame players; Virginia Wade, Billy Jean King, Martina Navatalova, Betty Stova, Tom Gorman, and many great PTR coaches.

Terry enjoyed everyone and lived by "enjoy the ride, life's a road trip". He truly believed that small acts of kindness were lasting. He never lost his reason for living. He said "If you care you will be there," and he always was.
