Clara Elizabeth Smith Tenbrook, 91, Apopka, Florida, passed away at home on March 27 surrounded by her four devoted daughters. Elizabeth was born in Memphis, Tennessee, May 4, 1928, to Walter T. and Alice P. Smith. She was married to Robert C. Tenbrook and moved to Apopka in 1969 due to his job transfer with General Electric Co. She was a long-time member of the First United Methodist Church of Apopka, where she held the position of Director of Tiny Tots Preschool and Daycare for many years. She also served as Director of the former New England Heights Baptist Church Little Ones Preschool and her own Kiddie Kottage in Sorrento. Elizabeth enjoyed music, spending time with family and traveling. She is survived by her daughters, Patricia Cloran (John) and Debra Tenbrook of Apopka and Bobbie Getz (Bruce) and Robin Fennell (Michael) of Georgia. She also leaves eight grandchildren, ten great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. The family wishes to acknowledge Elizabeth’s personal caregiver and the AdventHealth Hospice team for their extraordinary care during her final stages of life. Memorial donations to the First United Methodist Church of Apopka, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Memphis, Tennessee, or AdventHealth Hospice Care Central Florida are appreciated.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at Baldwin Fairchild Funeral Home, 601 N. Park Ave., Apopka, Florida, on April 2, 2020, at 2pm. The family will receive visitors prior to the service, 1:30-2:00 pm. Orange County regulations and CDC recommendations regarding coronavirus will be in effect.
