Eric was raised by parents Ronald and Rose Mendis and graduated from Apopka High School in 1985. The most important contributions that Eric made were to the lives of his family and loved ones. He was an incredible problem solver, handled every situation with a calm and collected demeanor, and was a truly brilliant mechanic. He lived in Apopka near Zellwood and started his career path, where he worked at Shell Jiffy Lube in Altamonte Springs, FL, as a manager. He was also a diesel mechanic on heavy-duty trucks and worked at Home Depot as a tool technician for 20 years on Orange Blossom Trail in Apopka, FL.
He worked hard his entire life. He loved buying, working on, and fixing old cars. He also had fun selling various items at Renniger's Flea Market. Most of all, he was a people person who was happy, playful, and energetic. He loved telling jokes and making people smile. His days were filled with cheering on his favorite Washington Redskins, and Tampa Bay Buccaneers. His love for the two teams was mostly influenced by his dad, Ronald in their younger years together.
Eric is survived by his loving wife Jolene, his two beautiful daughters, Molly and Monica, as well as his kind and sweet mother Rose, his funny brother Travis, and his sister baby little Shannon.
Service will be held at Freedom Fellowship Church in Orlando, FL, located at 5631 Gilliam Road officiated by Pastor Patrick McGuffin on Monday, September 14, 2026, at 6:00 pm.
We love you, Eric. We will forever miss you. God Bless.
