

Ken was born on September 20, 1948 in Takoma Park, MD to Romaine and Grace (Steeves) Grant. Ken grew up in MD with three sisters: Carol, Barbara, and Denise. The family enjoyed camping and family gatherings. He graduated from Takoma Academy in 1966. He completed his bachelor’s degree in education from Columbia Union College in 1972. This began a career in teaching that spanned 34 years at various elementary schools in Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Virginia, Massachusetts, Connecticut, Tennessee, and Florida. He was well regarded and was a mentor to many students. During this time, he completed a master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Atlantic Union College in 1994.
While attending Columbia Union College, Ken became reacquainted with Annette Houmann. She first caught his eye when they were in first and second grade. They were married on August 6, 1972. They celebrated almost 54 years of love, happiness, humor, and countless memories. Ken and Annette welcomed two daughters Lisa and Katie into their home and raised them along with two cocker spaniels: Pepper and Cici. The family enjoyed continuing the tradition of camping and family gatherings as well as a variety of cultural experiences. Ken enjoyed playing the cello and piano, painting, photography, playing games, listening to music, old cars, reading, cooking, and keeping in touch with loved ones and friends.
Ken is predeceased by his parents, Romaine and Grace Grant, and his sister, Carol Rinehart. He is survived by his wife, Annette Houmann Grant; his daughters, Lisa Andress (Jonathan) and Katie Grant; his granddaughter, Charlotte Andress; his sisters Barbara Manbeck (Robert) and Denise Grant; and many brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
