Lawrence Weingard Willis 92 passed away at home in Zellwood Station on March 13, 2018 with his family present. He was born on the Crandell Farm Pa. on March 14, 1925 the youngest of 7 siblings. He attended school in Cambridge Springs, Pa. until he graduated in 1943.
He left for the navy on June 7, 1943. He served on the Tennessee from Wake Island to the signing of the Peace Treaty with Japan. He was discharged on March 6, 1946. He had traveled around the World
In January of 1949 he married Mom (Leona Mae Herrick). They bought some land on the farm and built a home which they lived in with 3 children. (Sandy, Linda and Gregory). In 1958 they moved to Florida and helped his Father in law (Clyde Herrick refurbish a house in which they lived in. While he was there he was employed by Martin Marietta. Soon after they brought a house in Apopka where they had their 4th child (Connie).
In 1966 Larry moved into a house he had drawn the blue prints for and had built in the middle of a 10 acre Orange Grove. He finished raising his children in this house. He loved to fish, golf and was involved in Scouting for several years becoming Scoutmaster for Troop 601 in Apopka. He retired from Martin Marietta after working there for 30 years. He brought a Van and Travel Trailer and traveled all over the lower 48 and Western Canada into Alaska.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years Leona Mae Willis. He is survived by his children Sandra (Bob) Brockman, Linda Austin, Gregory (Tina) Willis, Connie Willis. His 12 Grandchildren and 17 Great Grandchildren and 3 Great Great Granchildren.
