Marvin Lee Wright, 85, of Seville, Florida went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday May 28, 2024. He was born on June 8, 1938, in Orlando, Florida to the late Levy and and Frances Wright of Apopka. He is preceded in death by his sister Mary Frances (Watters) Marvin leaves behind his wife of 62 years , Mary Agnes Wright and his two sons, Michael (Kelly) Wright, Maxwell (Mindy) Wright; and his two grandchildren, Megan and Max.
Marvin was a graduate of Apopka Memorial High School, Class of 1956, where he was President of his Senior Class, excelled academically and enjoyed playing football and baseball. After high school, he furthered his education at the University of Florida before dedicating a chapter of his life to the United States Coast Guard, where his love for football continued. Marvin worked for Southern Bell in Orlando for 32 years until his retirement in 1989.
He was a member at First Baptist Church of Apopka, President of Apopka Pop Warner, Charter member of the Apopka Elks Lodge, and a member of the Apopka Bass Club. Marvin used to drag race (with the same car he drove to work), fly planes, had a deep passion for NASCAR, enjoyed hunting, fishing, and frying fish for family and friends. He also loved fast cars and trucks, was a Chevy man, loved driving a tractor ( mowing and disking for hours on end mostly at the deer hunt camp ), was crafty at woodworking and was known to love making a fire.
Marvin’s legacy will continue to live on through his family and friends. May he rest in eternal peace.
A celebration of Marvin’s life will be held on
June 11, 2024 at 6 PM at the First Baptist Church of Apopka, followed by food and fellowship at the Apopka Elks Lodge.
