

Nondas Rose “Nondi” (Spence) Hebda, 82 of Apopka, Florida, formerly of Lansford died peacefully in her home with her daughter by her side. Loved by everyone especially her loving neighbors: Luis and Kat and Sean and Donna.
Nondi was born and raised in Lansford, PA to the late Ernest Leopold Spence and June Thelma Williams. Her Father went down with his fellow Navy crewmates on the Submarine USS Snook. Lost somewhere in the South China Sea during the end of WWII, Nondi was 15 months old. June remarried and enjoyed a long life in the outdoors, with her husband John “Fuzzy” Martinkovic of Lansford.
Nondi married John “Herbie” J. Hebda born and raised in Lansford, son to the late John and Stella (Laskos) Hebda. Nondi and Herbi lived in Bear Creek Lake’s in the Pocono’s of Jim Thorpe, PA for 25 years before moving to Florida in 2009. Nondi had a beautiful smile and vibrant personality, she was an avid gardener and a collector of antiques.
Nondi a lifelong seamstress, often adding to her own clothes or making new creations. She worked as a Presser at Pollock’s Factory and a seamstress at Ruth Ann Fashion’s, both in Lansford. Nondi then joined Kay Jay Factory in Nesquehoning, PA, working there for 35 years sewing denim and sample designs by Calvin Klein
Lifelong partners, Herbi and Nondi were married for almost 60 years before his passing in 2021. Nondi is survived by her daughter Sandra A. Ferland and her grandson Collin J. Ferland both from Apopka, Florida and many nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by her brother David Spence of Lansford.
Nondi loved the outdoors, whether it was sitting around the camp fire, going camping, or skiing. An avid snow skier, she taught skiing for many years with her family at Buck Hill Falls Ski Slope, Canadensis, Pa and later in Mountain Home Pennsylvania.
Constantly on the go, Nondi worked hard in her yard and loved having fun, especially having her Mojito at The Propagate House in Apopka on the weekend.
In her memory, go outside, hug a tree, plant something and or have a dance and mojito in Nondi’s memory. Much love, from Sandy
