Peter P. Parker, age 93, passed away peacefully on Sunday, Dec. 15, 2019 in Orlando, Florida with his devoted sons at his side. He was born on August 17,1926 in Perry, Florida to Ila (Young) and Daniel Parker. Pete was preceded in death by his parents and his 12 older siblings.
He is survived by his loving wife of 69 years, Lou Ellen (Poppell) Parker;
3 Sons: Steve (wife Bernadette) Parker, Jim (wife Susie) Parker and Alan (wife Maria) Parker; 7 Grandchildren: Danny Parker, Kristi (husband Jeff) Temkin, Jennifer (husband Kevin) Scalabrin, Curt (wife Jodi) Parker, Steven Parker, John (wife MacKenzie) Parker and David (wife Michaela) Parker; and 12 Great-grandchildren.
As a young man, Pete worked on the family farm. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy during WWII serving on ships such as the USS Coral Sea, a Midway-class aircraft carrier, and the USS Pirate, an Admirable-class minesweeper. Following his discharge from the Navy, he joined the Merchant Marines and sailed the Great Lakes. Pete left the Merchant Marines to marry Lou Ellen, the love of his life, and pursued a career as a heavy equipment operator. He worked for Hubbard Construction Company in Orlando, Florida for 30 years until he retired.
Pete was a down-to-earth man with a deep love for his family. His favorite past-time was gardening. He enjoyed watching things grow and loved to eat his fresh vegetables as did the rest of his family.
The funeral service is scheduled for Friday, Dec. 20, 2019, at Bear Lake United Methodist Church 1010 Bear Lake Road Apopka , FL 32703. Visitation will be from 11:00 am - 12:00 pm immediately followed by the service from 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm. There will be a reception in the church fellowship hall from 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm. Procession to the grave site at Highland Memory Gardens will follow the reception. Baldwin Fairchild Funeral Home Apopka is handling arrangements.
