In loving memory of Robert Lee Harwood age 81 of Mt. Plymouth, FL, who took the step into his heavenly home on August 25, 2026. Bob's life was exemplified by faith, family, and service to his country. Bob was born in Augusta, ME on March 18, 1945, the son of Joseph Harwood Jr. and Miriam (Jewell) Harwood. Before Bob graduated high school in St. Petersburg, Fl, both of his parents had passed away. He joined the Navy out of high school. During his 20-year career, he rose to the rank of Senior Chief Petty Officer before retiring in 1983. After retirement, he worked in a support role to the Navy at a company that became part of Lockheed-Martin.
Bob married Sally (Stillson) in 1968. They had two children, Joseph (Debbie) and Cindy (Frank Tremblay). They lived a military life with many moves on the west coast and finally to the east coast to be near family. Sally passed away in 1997.
He met his second wife Dororthy (Bambi) Harwood in 1999 and they married in 2000. Bob moved to Florida and spent many years serving Christ through his church. He also was known for greeting people, especially former military, and for working as a hospice volunteer. Bob and Bambi spent many mornings reading the Bible together. They also traveled extensively, with one trip going through Greece and Turkey along the journeys of Paul.
Besides his parents and Sally, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Helen Harwood Norton and Ronald, Julian, and Jon Harwood.
In addition to his wife and children, he is survived by stepchildren (Robert Rosser and Mary Holley), many grandchildren, sisters-in-law, and nieces and nephews.
In remembrance of Bob, the family asks that donations be sent to Cornerstone Hospice (https://cornerstonehospice.org) and their church, The Cross (https://www.thecross.family).
Bob will be greatly missed and remembered here, but his home is now in heaven.
