

Robert Edward Thomas, age 85, of Fruitland Park, FL, formally of Holly, MI, Haslett, MI, and Williamston, MI, died on Tuesday, December 29, 2020, at the Tavares Hospice House, Fl. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
Born in Detroit, MI, on January 6, 1935, he is the son of Edward and Beulah (Cromwell) Thomas.
Shortly after his military service, Robert joined Michigan State University, Stores Dept., from which he later retired after 33 years. At MSU, he was a very active member of the staff golf league and won several trophies. Along with being an active golfer, he was a fervent Spartan fan and especially enjoyed when the Spartan Football and Hockey teams beat “the other school down the road”. Robert also enjoyed fishing with his friends, travel with his family, and was active in the Williamston community as a little league coach and on bowling leagues, among other activities.
Robert was preceded in death by his wife, Phyllis (Nichols), his parents, his brothers William, John, and Gerald, step-sister Irma, and sister Barbara. His sister, Margaret, of Holly, MI survives him, as do his sons, Douglas, of Fruitland Park, and Michael, of Perry, MI. Robert’s special friend, Barbara Gallogly, of Fruitland Park, FL also survives him as do several cousins, nieces, and nephews.
The family is being served by Gorsline Runciman Funeral Home – East Lansing, MI Chapel and Baldwin-Fairchild Funeral Home – Apopka, FL Chapel.
