Barbara, Tommie and Richard,

Bill truly lived the 19th century! I always admired his honesty and adherence to his values. He was always willingly there to help others in need. He helped me on snubber of occasions.

Take solace that he will now be at peace and at rest in his beloved Virginia home.

May his memory be eternal,
George and Sandra

Had so many great times with Barb and Bill. Vividly remember being introduced to Swamp Water one evening at a party in their home. Haven't remembered a thing since. What a great guy, always treated me like a lady and a good friend.

I've known Bill since 1974. Since then I have worked, played music, drank whiskey, camped on the banks of the Silver River, beat the bushes and cruised the waterways of Central Florida, and tried to save the world with Bill Bess. I have truly enjoyed my time with him and I would have wished more. Bill was born too late and left us too soon. He made the world a little more interesting by being in it. I will miss him and of course my heart goes out to Barb, Tommy and Richard. Fair winds and following seas my Brother.

My heartfelt condolences to Barbara & family. From my time working at DEP, I remember Bill as truly a gentleman & a scholar & quite the musician too! Always available, always willing to teach those of us that had a lot to learn.
