passed away peacefully on Sept. 6, 2011 with his family by his side. Born on July 21, 1928 to Wylie & Ida Tidwell in Wardsville, OK. He was the youngest of 5 children. Boyd joined the Navy in 1945 at the age of 17 & spent 2 years on the USS Vicksburg out of San Diego, CA. After serving in the Navy, Boyd moved to Korbel, CA and met the love of his life Lodena Pack while attending a movie at the Arcata Theater where she was working as an usherette. They married in 1949 & had 3 children. Boyd spent most of his working years in the timber industry as a timber faller until his retirement in 1982. Papa was a hard worker and dedicated everything he had to his family. His family meant the world to him. Lodena always wanted to take a vacation "just the two of them" and papa would never in a million years ever leave his children behind, but would never stop for a swimming pool. Everything he did was for his family. He has always enjoyed the outdoors and loved to hunt, fish, camp and dive for abalone. He spent many winters traveling to Arizona with special friends. In his recent years he loved spending time with his beloved dogs and companions Teddy and Casey. Boyd was preceded in death by his parents, 4 siblings and numerous nephews and nieces. He leaves behind his wife of 62 years Lodena Tidwell, daughter Susan Ellis (Glen), son Michael Tidwell (Philla), & daughter Sharon Harpe (Wade). Grandchildren Clinton & Mitchell Ellis (Kerri), Melissa Young, Phillip Minard & Naomi Bennett, Jennifer Kennedy (Tat), Jacob (Amanda), Jared (Sandra), Tyler, and Travis Harpe. Great Grandchildren, Christopher and Brianna Ellis, Carlee Young, Keyon Whitaker, Kyndel and Landen Harpe. Sister-in-law Silvia Tidwell and brother-in-law Vinal Pack as well as numerous nephews and nieces. A special thank you to Hospice of Humboldt, especially Nita, Robert, & Karen for the loving care they gave papa for the last few months.
