Edna Brown

Edna, known as "Sis" to her family, was born in Acklin Gap, Arkansas, along with her twin-brother, Buddy, to parents Clyde and Thelma Acklin on September 17, 1928. She passed away in Eureka, CA on October 15, 2011, at the age of 83, following a 2 year battle with cancer.

Edna is survived by her husband, Richard Brown; two daughters and their husbands, Patty Caetano (Jimmy), Gina Portillo (Al); grandchildren; Bobby Cooper (Melissa), Ricky Partsafas (Kim Truesdell), Jenny Partsafas (Jake Morris), Cody Caetano, Sam Portillo (Christa), Tommy Portillo, Kenny Portillo; great-grandchildren; Kory Cooper, Garrett Cooper, Riley Cooper and Amelia Partsafas; brother, Jimmie Acklin (Jean); sister, Barbara Buerer and many nieces', nephews', cousins and dear friend, Tina Terbush.

Those who preceded her by death are grandparents, Dee and Lura Acklin; Clarence and Verona Grisham; parents, Clyde and Thelma Acklin; husband and father of her children, Kenneth Yowell; twin brother, Edwin "Buddy" Acklin; sisters, Hazel Cochran and Patsy Goode.

She came from a loving, supportive heritage, loved her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ and passed those virtues on to her girls, grandchildren and siblings. She was always a very generous person with a positive, uplifting spirit to those around her, and a faithful prayer-warrior.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 22, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. at Faith Center Foursquare Church, 1032 Bay Street, Eureka, CA. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to: Hospice of Humboldt, 2010 Myrtle Avenue, Eureka, CA 95501.
