Phyllis Joleen McCartney

Mrs. McCartney was born October 15, 1933, in Franklin, Missouri, to Bessie and Lansford Starnes. She married Wayne J. McCartney in 1949 and they moved to California in 1950. She worked for A. Brizard CO., Humboldt Lumber Handlers, Brightwood Lumber Co. and Simpson Lumber Co. before transitioning to a long career with Schmidbauer Lumber, Inc., where she was Personnel Manager for 25 years (1972-1997). Phyllis’ strong work ethic was surpassed only by her love for her family. She enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and often supported them in the community at dance and sporting events. When not spending time with family, Phyllis could be found tending to her large flower garden, enjoying her puzzles or building her collection of stamps, thimbles and plates. We will appreciate her long time dedication to creating and maintaining our family genealogy.

Phyllis passed away after battling bladder cancer. Her final days were spent surrounded by family. She is survived by her sisters Freda and Doris of Yakima, WA, and brother Don of Seattle, WA; her husband of 63 years, Wayne; son Thomas & Cindy McCartney; son Robert McCartney; son David & Deanna McCartney; daughter Teresa McCartney; daughter Katherine & Earl Moon; daughter Trina McCartney & Jennifer Jabson.

12 grandchildren; Becky McCartney Werings, Shelby Multanen, Nathan McCartney, Danika Holland, Erika McCartney, Dane McCartney, Kelsey Johnson, Danielle McCartney, Natalie Visser, Taylor McCartney, Jim Moon, & Kim Moon.

15 great-grandchildren; Anna & Evan Werings, Jackson & Coleman Multanen, Lucas McCartney, Vanessa Holland, Malikai McCartney, Summer, Zoey & Zeb Johnson, Jimi, Earl, Alanzo & Eychkwo Moon & Michael Sy Moon-Manzi.
