William James Fabbri, “Bill”, was born June 20, 1938, in Arcata, CA and passed away peacefully at his home in Arcata on February 21, 2012 at the age of 73.
After graduating from Arcata High School in 1956, Bill joined the United States Marine Corp. He returned to Arcata where he lived, worked, and raised a family. Bill worked for over 45 years as a delivery driver for several companies, including McKesson, Jalco, and Southern Wine and Spirits. He was well known for his loud demeanor, sarcastic personality, and friendly smile.
Bill was an avid fisherman who enjoyed ocean and river fishing. Bill owned a fishing pole for every river, ocean, bay, and day of the week. He had fishing gear made from every material, and “developed” some gear no fisherman had ever seen before. Bill was passionate about fishing.
Bill was a great storyteller. His stories were often repeated and may have been slightly different than the first time. His infectious laughter and kind spirit was loved by all.
After retiring, Bill treasured spending time with life long friends, enjoying coffee, and talking about the “good old days.” Bill and his close friends were proud members of the “do nothing club.”
Bill was a family man and was very proud of his sons and their accomplishments in life. He never missed an opportunity to praise them. Bill's greatest joy later in life were his granddaughters Carli and Casey. He referred to them as his “little angels.”
He is survived by his wife, Vivian, of 50 years; his son, Brett and wife, Carri, of Fortuna, grandaughters, Carli and Casey; his son, Brian of Fort Jones; sister, Janis Plamondon and husband, John; nephews, Jeff and Jason; neice, Jennifer, of Michigan; and many special friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents James and Helena Fabbri, and his infant son, William.
At Bill's request, no services will be held; however, please join us for a gathering of family and friends on Friday, March 2, 2012 from 1:00-3:00 p.m. at the Plaza Grill, 791 8th St, Arcata.
