Alese was born on August 22, 1930, in Trinity, North Carolina, to the late Allen Franklin Jones and Bessie Lee Fitz Jones. She was the thirteenth of their fifteen children. Preceded in death by her brothers and sisters, Garland, Ruth Farlow, Bob, Eva Coltrane, Dave, Paul, Allen, Hattie Biles, Jimmy, Joe, Bill, Martha Sechrest, and Walter, she is survived by her youngest sister Jewel Farlow.
Alese graduated from Trinity High School in 1948. After attending Bryce Commercial College, she was employed by Adams-Millis Hosiery Company where she met her husband, Willis Harris. They married in 1951 and Willis passed away in November of 2000. As lifelong members of Rankin Memorial United Methodist Church, they dedicated their lives to serving their church family.
Alese devoted her time and energy to children. As a teacher assistant and substitute teacher over the years in Guilford County, she worked with all ages at several schools, but primarily at Fairview Elementary School in High Point. She served children in the nursery at Rankin Memorial for 22 years. Alese also volunteered with the American Red Cross community bloodmobile.
Alese is survived by her children: Ann Shaver(Tony) of Williamsburg, Virginia, Jean Dewey(Rob) of Virginia Beach, Virginia, and Buzz Harris of Boston, Massachusetts. She is the beloved grandmother of: Chris Shaver(Lindsey), Austin Shaver(Kelly), Kelly Dewey, Ryan Dewey(Mariah), Jackson Shaver(Kaiti), and Conor Dewey. Her great-grandchildren are Brady, Hudson, and Caroline Shaver.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 17, at 2:00 p.m. at Glenola Baptist Church in Trinity where Alese attended as a child and was married.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Alese’s name to the Salvation Army Boys and Girls Club of High Point, N.C.
