

Caroline (Carrie) Johnson Hurley of, Trinity, NC, completed her life’s journey at Hospice of the Piedmont, Hospice Home at High Point, on January 15, 2012 from complications that resulted from a stroke suffered on January 9, 2012. She was 64.
Carrie was born in Portland, Oregon on January 11, 1948, 5 minutes before her twin brother Stephen. Her family lived in Oregon and Texas before moving to North Carolina in 1960. Carrie graduated from Richard J. Reynolds High School, Winston-Salem, NC, in 1965, and from High Point Memorial Hospital School of Nursing with her R.N. in 1968.
Carrie’s first nursing position was with High Point Memorial Hospital. One of her first patients, Michael Colon Hurley of Archdale, became the most important person in her life. Carrie and Mike were married on June 7, 1970 at St. Mary’s Episcopal Church, High Point, and made there first home in High Point, then in 1984 in Trinity NC.
Carrie was the office nurse for Dr. Nelson Pollock M.D. of Emerywood Medical Specialties, High Point, for over 32 years. She retired from active nursing practice in 2010.
A visitation will be held at Sechrest Funeral Service, 120 Trindale Road, Archdale, NC., from 5-7 PM Tuesday, January 17, 2012. A funeral service will be held at Archdale Friends Meeting, 114 Trindale Road, Archdale, NC, at 1 PM on Wednesday, January 18, 2012, followed by internment at Springfield Friends Meeting Cemetery, 555 East Springfield Road, High Point NC.
Carrie is survived by her husband of 42 years, Michael Colon Hurley; her parents, Bill and Rachel Johnson of Gulfport, MS; her twin brother Rear Admiral Stephen I. Johnson, USN (ret.) of Spartanburg, SC; and her younger sister, Wendy Johnson, of Madison, MS.
The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in Carrie’s memory to the Hospice of the Piedmont (www.hospice-careconnection.org), the Humane Society of Randolph County (www.hsrcpets.org), or to a charity of personal choice.
