I met Chris around 9 years old. He lived close to me in High Point, NC. We became fast friends. I immediately adored him. His sweet belly laugh, with his dimples taking over his cheeks. His beautiful, full lips, and his flawless skin. We were such a good friends, and I thought he was simply the cutest. Around that time, Martin, the sitcom, was a huge hit on tv. Chris used to impersonate, Shaynayna (one of the characters) so well! He would have me, and my family, laughing so hard!! He had the whole act down to a T.  I will always hold that memory near, and dear to my heart. Another fond memory I have is when Chris went on a beach trip with me, and my family, when we were around 12 years old. We had such a blast. The two of us were "hippies" and we both loved music from the 60s. Some of our favorites were, Crimson & Clover (by Tommy James and the Shondelles) and all of the Mamas & Papas songs. We listened to that music so much on that trip. I can remember Chris in his tyedye t-shirt, and round sunglasses, as I write. I also remember hanging out with him in Charlotte, NC where I attended UNC Charlotte my first semester of college. I visited his home and we hung out together, and celebrated our "freedom" of being young adults off into the world on our own. I only spent one semester there, so we parted ways, but stayed in touch over the years. I moved to CA in 2004 and ever since then we've been in touch up until the last time we texted, which was a couple of months ago. I attempted to visit with him in NC, while I visited my family over Christmas (2021) but wasn't able to make it because of the limited time I had. I wish I had seen him one last time. I will, however, treasure hearing his voice and talking to him very recently about his life, and loss of his beloved Kenneth. Chris, I love you so much. I will miss you dearly, my friend. Fly with the angels. Soar with no pain. I hope our souls will meet again one day.  Sending love to all of your family! ~Laura 


Chris was such a sweet and kind friend who was always there to lift you up and make you smile.  We shared so many adventures together, including going to our first Grateful Dead concert together. When we got older he was also there for some really special moments like my son's first birthday party. Life won't be the same without you, my friend. Praying for the family during this difficult time.

Of the countless reasons why so many of us will miss Chris, the one that weighs heaviest for me is that this cold and embittered world just lost way more kindness than it can afford to part with. The sweetest and gentlest of souls, it’s difficult to comprehend how there was enough room in Chris’s small frame to hold that much heart. 

While having to say good-bye so far too soon is indeed cause for sorrow, I also can find joy in and deep gratitude for Chris’s part in my own time here on this planet. I guess it’s the full hearts that grow heaviest in moments like these.

My prayers are ascending in the hope that all who love Chris will find comfort and peace in this time.
