She was born on March 26, 1943 in Guilford County, a daughter of the late Arvel Steve Kersey and Ethel Culler Kersey. Ms. Owens had recently moved to Wilmington, but had been a life-long resident of High Point. She attended Ragsdale High School, GTCC, and ECPI University of Greensboro where she earned a degree in Computer Technology in Computer Programming. Marie worked many years with the City of High Point with the Housing Authority. She also worked with Analog Devices in Greensboro. In later years, she worked as a CNA in the healthcare system as a personal healthcare assistant.
She was an avid reader, especially the Bible, religious books, and westerns. She loved her dogs, trips to the beach and mountains, doing puzzles and listening to a great variety of music, Elvis, Adele, classical and country. She loved spending time with her family.
Marie will be dearly missed. She will be remembered as a loving, kind, and giving mother, grandmother, sister and aunt.
Ms. Owens is survived by her four sons; Phillip Owens, Michael Owens, Mitchell Owens and Bradley Owens; five grandchildren, Christian Owens, Ethan Owens, Bryson McGee, Lance Owens, Candise Miller; and great grandson Cameron Owens; sisters, Bonnie Thompson, Kay Kersey and Debbie Morgan.
She was preceded in death by her brothers, Max Kersey, Jerry Kersey and Ray Kersey.
Funeral services will be held at 2pm on Friday, November 15, 2019 at Advantage Funeral and Cremation Services Archdale at 120 Trindale Road Archdale, NC 27263. Visitation to be held at 12:30pm until the funeral service begins. Burial will follow at Floral Garden Park Cemetery in High Point.
