Hobert Hoover Hobson

Archdale – Hobert Hoover Hobson, age 88, passed away on Monday, October 30, 2017 at the High Point Hospice Home. A graveside service with military rites will be held 3:00 PM Thursday, November 2, 2017 at Floral Gardens Cemetery with Reverend Michelle Foster-Beckerleg officiating. Hobert was born and raised in Yadkin County, and was a son of the late Herman Hobson and the late Geneva Michael Hobson. After schooling, Hobert served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict, where he served for four and one-half years. After being honorably discharged from the Navy, he went to work for Myrtle Desk, and then later to Burlington Mills as a loom mechanic. Hobert later joined Crestwood Furniture as the Shipping and Receiving Superintendent for twenty years. After leaving Crestwood, he joined Preview Furniture in the same capacity and retired after twenty years of service. He belonged to the High Point Jaycees and to the NC Golf Association. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister and four brothers. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Phyllis Surrett Hobson; three daughters, Kathy Ingold and husband Rick, Janette “Jan” Blackman and husband Mike, and DeAnn Armstrong and husband Todd; one granddaughter, four grandsons, three great-granddaughters, four great-grandsons; and two sisters The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until 2:30 PM Thursday, November 2, 2107 at Covenant Church United Methodist, of which he was a charter member. We extend a heart-felt thank you to Betsy Walker, Tim Milam and Hospice House of High Point. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Hospice House of High Point in Dad’s memory.
