Trinity- Hudson Grey Watkins, the 9 month and 10 days old fighting champ, decided to go take retirement in heaven with his grandma Bessie on Tuesday, February 18, 2020, at Brenners Children's Hospital in Winston-Salem.

Grey was born on May 8, 2019, in Forsyth County to Michaela Watkins. Although Grey’s time here was short, he was able to touch so many different people. He was a strong warrior, and no matter what, Grey always had a smile on his face.

His grandparents, Sonny Stafford, Bessie Stafford and Rev. Jesse Maynard, preceded him in death.

Grey is survived by his devoted mother, Michaela Watkins; brother, Asher Teaster; grandparents, Wendy Watkins, Michael Watkins; great-grandmother, Ruth Maynard; great-great-grandmother, Elizabeth Sutton; Special Aunt Amanda Southern and her husband Jeremy Southern; cousins, Riley Southern, Reed Southern, Raegan Southern; and several other special family members.

A funeral service for Grey will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, February 22, 2020, at Advantage Funeral and Cremation Services Archdale, 120 Trindale Road, Archdale, NC 27263. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. just prior to the funeral service. Interment will follow at Floral Garden Park Cemetery in High Point.

The family would like to send a special thank you to all of the physicians and staff at the NICU and PICU at Brenners Children's Hospital.

Memorials may be made to NICU at Brenners Children's Hospital at Medical Center Blvd., Winston-Salem, NC 27157; or at brennerschildrens.org.

Wendy and Michaela,

I am so very sorry for your loss of Grey. Michaela, you don't know me but I work with your mom. She and I have had many conversations about Grey. She has such beautiful pictures of him at her desk. Nothing anyone can say at this moment will take away your pain but my hope is that you come to know God's peace and comfort. Many prayers to all of you.

Two bible versus that come to mind that have given me comfort in the past...from Phillipians 4:7 "And the peace of God that surpasses all understanding, shall guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus"

Numbers 6:24-26 "The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make his face shine upon you and be gracious to you, the Lord lift up his countenance upon you and give you peace"

Dear sweet Watkins family,
I just want you all to know that I am thinking of you all during this time. I know that there are no words I can offer to make things easier, but I am praying that God holds you in His arms to bring you peace and comfort. I pray that the Holy Spirit hovers over you to bring healing that can only come from His love. I know Mrs Bessie is squeezing him so tight! I send hugs to you all!
