Mrs. Linda Dianne Whittington, 82, passed away on October 9, 2026. Born April 5, 1944, in Guilford County, Linda was the daughter of the late Douglas Worth and Elsie Louise Crowson Pugh. Linda was a resident of High Point, North Carolina.
In 1957, Linda married the love of her life, Jerry Lee Whittington. Together they welcomed two children, Sherry and Derek, and Linda devoted herself wholeheartedly to the care and well-being of her family, who remained her first priority throughout her life. Her steady patience, gentle presence, and thoughtful attention to others shaped the home she built and the love she gave so freely.
Linda found joy in the simple and meaningful pleasures of life—time at the beach, traveling to the mountains, and especially the Holiday Bus Tours that brought both adventure and connection. Linda and Jerry had a condo in Beech Mountain, NC, where they often took the family, creating cherished moments rooted in togetherness. A hard-working and capable homemaker, Linda was an amazing cook who took pride in caring for those around her. She also enjoyed thrift shopping, yard selling, sewing, and keeping her home immaculate—quiet reflections of her generosity, diligence, and the care she extended in all she did.
Known for a kind-hearted spirit and genuine warmth, Linda never met a stranger. With compassionate concern and a selfless willingness to help, she did what she could for anyone, offering encouragement through both words and deeds. In these ways, she remained an inspiration to those who knew her—steady, giving, and deeply considerate.
Linda was preceded in death by her parents, Douglas and Elsie; her stepfather, Jack Pugh; her husband, Jerry Whittington; and her granddaughter, Brittany Evans.
Survivors to cherish Linda’s legacy include her daughter, Sherry Whittington Williams; her son, Derek Dewayne Whittington; one granddaughter, Bridgette Evans; and four great-grandchildren, Kiley Evans, Mahleya Mitchell, James Merritt, and Waylan Tuttle.
The family is under the care of Advantage Funerals and Cremations of Archdale, NC.
