

Al DeMellOf Buffalo GroveAlfred F. De Mell was born on July 26, 1953 in Cleveland, Ohio to Al and Donna (nee Hood) De Mell of Cleveland Ohio. After a year-long battle with cancer, he died peacefully at his home on Friday, October 9, 2015, surrounded by his family. He was survived by his wife of 13 years Roni De Mell (nee De Met), his parents, his step-daughter, Christina Zirretta (John), grandson Mason, brother Joe De Mell, his niece Samantha De Mell; his beloved in laws George De Met and Athena De Met, sister in law Georgia De Met and nephews Vince and Nick Mangiameli.Al graduated from Collinwood High School in Cleveland, Ohio and went on to John Carroll University, where he received his Bachelor"s Degree sociology. He became a corrections officer at the Cuyahoga County jail. He then moved to Daytona Beach Florida, where he began his career in a family run business that launched his lumber and construction profession. He then settled in Chicago in 1989. Al worked in the lumber and millwork industry and was a member of the Northern Illinois Home Builders Association. For over 25 years, Al was Owner of ALD painting. He was an avid fan of the Ohio State Buckeyes. In his free time, he was passionate about golf, football, horse-racing, exercising and walking his beloved pet Rocco.Visitation from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm, Friday, October 16, 2015 at Glueckert Funeral Home Ltd., 1520 N. Arlington Heights Road, Arlington Heights, Illinois. Prayers 9:15 a.m. Saturday, October 17, 2015 at the Funeral Home, proceeding to St. Mary Parish, 10 N. Buffalo Grove Road, Buffalo Grove, Illinois for Mass at 10:00 am.
