

Albert "Al" W. HerdaOf Arlington HeightsAlbert "Al" W. Herda was born on October 27, 1941 in Chicago, Illinois to Albert and Rose (nee Firnbach) Herda. He died January 1, 2016, at his home.He had a passion for music and recorded several songs in the 50's and 60's including "Fuzzy Wuzzy" and " 'Cause I Have You", which he wrote for, and dedicated to his soon to be wife, Deanna He was a long-time parishioner at St. James Church and while his children were young, was a religious education teacher. Al worked for ITW Fastex for 33 1/2 years. He was a coach and head league umpire of youth baseball in Arlington Heights. He was also a long-time member of the Chicagoland Circle Cutters Model Aviation Club.Al is survived by his wife of 52 years, Deanna Joyce Herda (nee Humer), his children Colleen (Jim) Kosac, Thomas (Erin) Herda, Cheryl (George) Dobie, David Herda, Albert (Valerie) Herda, Chrisann (Ross) Herda and Rick (Kim) Herda, as well as his 16 grandchildren and his siblings, Philip Herda and Donna Cusak.He was preceded in death by his parents.Visitation from 3:00 pm until 8:00 pm Monday, January 4, 2016 at Glueckert Funeral Home, Ltd., 1520 N. Arlington Heights Road (four blocks south of Palatine Road), Arlington Heights. Prayers Tuesday, 11:15 a.m. at Glueckert FuneralHome, Ltd., proceeding to St. James Church, 831 N.
