

Alexandra Julia “Sandy” Kisla Corcoran was born on October 21, 1938 to Edwin Anthony Kisla & Anne Delores (Cizman) Kisla of Chicago, IL. She was the eldest of three girls. Sandy attended Resurrection Academy and Resurrection High School and graduated from Mundelein College in Chicago, IL in 1960 with a BA in Speech. She taught public school in the inner city schools of Chicago for about 8 years. Sandy became interested in politics and moved to Washington, DC, working in congressional relations, lobbying and for the California Institute. Sandy married LeRoy C. Corcoran in 1984. She liked to tell people she married an entire family (five stepchildren)! She later moved back to Chicago and did volunteer work for Meals on Wheels, Reading in the Schools and The Clinton Global Initiative.
Sandy is preceded in death by her sister Madeline Griffin & brother-in-law Jerry Griffin, brother-in-law Jim Simmons, Sandy’s husband of 21 years, Lee Corcoran, stepsons: Tom & Bill Corcoran, granddaughter Carly Knoll, great-granddaughter Lenna Lichtfuss and son-in-law Dennis Zeisler.
She is survived by one sister Susan Kisla Simmons of Redmond, WA, nieces Jill Griffin of Lombard, IL and Jacki Quinn (Patrick) of Plainfield, IL. In addition, she is survived by stepchildren: Mary Corcoran Knoll (William) of Bigfork, MT, James Eugene Corcoran (Maria) of Point Lookout, NY, Carol Corcoran Zeisler of Norfolk, VA and Constance Corcoran Lichtfuss (Ernest “Skip”) of Sparks, MD.
In addition, she is survived by fourteen grandchildren that she and husband Lee loved to brag about: Mallery Knoll Simac (Dylan) of Bigfork, MT, C. Travis Knoll (Katie) of Chicago, IL, William F. Corcoran (Lexi) of Brooklyn, NY, Rose Corcoran (Matt White) of London, UK, Nina Corcoran Caputo (Brendan) of New York, NY, Christina Corcoran of New York, NY, James A. Corcoran of Point Lookout, NY, Nathaniel Zeisler (Cristen) of South Pasadena, CA, Jennifer Zeisler (Steve Cole) of South Pasadena, CA, Sarah Zeisler Wisniewski (Adam), of Harrogate, TN, Jeffrey Zeisler (Nadine Zaatar) of Fairfax, VA, Jeffrey Lichtfuss (Kate Sharp) of Pasadena, CA, Kevin Lichtfuss (Myra Bañuelos) of San Gabriel, CA, Derek Lichtfuss (Katie) of Columbus, Ohio, two grandnephews: Carter and Brady Quinn and 8 great-grandchildren: Tommy A. Corcoran, Brooke & Perrin Zeisler, Aubree & Eliza Wisniewski, Calvin, Ruby & Lance Lichtfuss.
Memorial visitation will be Saturday, December 17, 2022 from 10:00 AM until the time of the Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM at Our Lady of the Wayside Church, 440 S. Mitchell Avenue, Arlington Heights.
Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Chicago or to Meals on Wheels.
