Allen F Blohm, age 90, passed away peacefully on September 16, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. Born on May 16, 1936, in his family home on Pine St. in Arlington Heights, Allen was a lifelong resident—raised in the community he continued to call home throughout his life. Allen held dear the memories of childhood summers spent at his uncle’s farm in Elk Grove Village—days that reflected his love of simple living and joys of the farming life.
Allen was the loving husband of Nancy for 65 years, and his devotion to her and to their family remained the steady center of his life. He was a cherished father to Patti (Bob) and Lori (Dave), a beloved grandfather to Lindsay (Eric), Jenni (Dean), Brandon, and Bryan (Renae), and a proud great-grandfather to Blake, Landon, Avery, and Daphne. He was preceded in death by his father, Ferd Blohm; his mother, Myrtle (Scharringhausen) Blohm; and his brother, Glen Blohm.
A man of faithful commitment and thoughtful care, Allen lived with a quiet steadiness that was felt by everyone who knew him. His hard-working nature was evident across decades of labor and service: he worked at Jewel Food Stores and later built his own Painting & Decorating business, continuing to work until he was 75 years old. Yet Allen’s life was never measured only by work. His warmth showed in the simple, meaningful connections he made—especially in the conversations and coffee shared with clients, many of whom became close friends and loyal repeat customers. He also carried a ready sense of humor, never missing the chance to joke and laugh with family and friends.
Allen will be remembered with deep respect and gratitude, and he will be dearly missed by all who were fortunate to have known him.
A visitation for Allen will be held on Monday September 21st at 10 am with a service to follow at The Orchard Arlington Heights.
