Amy Gray was born on November 14, 1962, in Evreux, France to Thomas and Margaret (nee Spurgeon) Gray. She died Monday, February 10, 2020, at her home in Chicago.
Ms. Gray was a graduate of Arlington High School and Harper Community College. She was a clerk employed with the Arlington Heights Memorial Library since 1992. Amy was a long-time supporter of animal welfare agencies including SPCA & PETA and a dedicated cat lover. She loved to read as is evidenced by the large number of books she collected and liked to watch old movies and listen to classic radio shows. Amy enjoyed travel. She was especially fond and learned of Great Britain, though never actually traveling there. She enjoyed her car trips to cultural events and museums. One of her favorite places to visit was House on the Rock in Spring Green, Wisconsin. The collections thrilled her. She also enjoyed the quaintness of Woodstock, Illinois. Amy is remembered as having a tremendous memory and being a lover of chocolate. In her spare time, she was an accomplished photographer, liked crossword puzzles, Star Wars, playing the board game Balderdash.
Amy is survived by her parents Thomas and Margaret; her brother, Thomas (Qingyang) Gray, Jr., her sisters, Kate (Brett) Gleixner, and Molly (Andy) Richard; her nephews, Drake Harrington, and Miles Gray and her step nephews Matthew and James Gleixner, and Drew Richard.
She was preceded in death by her step-niece Jenna Gleixner.
Amy's family will receive guests from 3:30 until 5:30 pm, Friday, September 10, 2021, at Glueckert Funeral Home Ltd., 1520 N. Arlington Heights Road, Arlington Heights, Illinois.
